Suitable for bi-directional monitoring of 16, 32 and 64, E1 and T1 and SDH STM-1, STM-4/16 links and E1 HSL (High Speed Signaling Link) equipment.

Valiant offers a wide range of E1 and T1 Groomers for non-intrusive monitoring applications. The VCL-MegaConnect, E1 and T1, Hi-Z Monitoring Groomers may be used for non-intrusive monitoring of "live" E1 and T1 traffic links, non-intrusively, through a high impedance monitoring point on a patch panel or a DDF. The equipment also allows the user to groom the selected time-slots carrying the monitored data to selected E1 or T1 normal impedance ports which can be connected to protocol analysers, probes, test equipment, billing servers etc.

VCL-PG, 16/32E1 Packet Groomer

Valiant's ‘VCL-PG, E1 Packet Groomer’ may be used to groom up to 16 / 32 x E1 channels and convert their payload to RFC 5086, RFC 5087 and RFC 4553 compliant Ethernet Packets.

The ‘VCL-PG, E1 Packet Groomer is equipped with a highly reliable clock recovery mechanism for low jitter and wander control, even under variable network conditions.

The 16/32 x E1 Port ‘VCL-PG, E1 Packet Groomer’ provides 4x Gigabit combo Ethernet ports for Ethernet link redundancy, and QoS by implementing 802.1Q based VLAN, Differentiated Services (Diffserv/DSCP), Port based Priority and 802.1p packet priority classification protocols for network optimization. Port mirroring is also available so that the copy of same data may be output to duplicate servers for “Server” redundancy.

STM-1 Monitoring Groomer

VCL-STM-1 Monitoring Groomer is a cost-effective monitoring and grooming equipment which may be used to "non-intrusively" monitor "bi-directional" STM-1 links through a 80:20 optical splitter patch panel and allow the user to select 64Kbps time-slots and groom them to E1 output ports, which may be then connected to E1 probes, E1 signaling analyzers and billing servers etc.

The equipment provides as many as 32 E1 output ports to which the selected / groomed 64Kbps time-slots may be output.

The figure shown below, illustrates a typical "non-intrusive", bi-directional monitoring application of an STM-1 link in both east and west directions and the groomed time-slots are output to E1 interfaces.

VCL-MegaConnect, the E1 x 32 port Hi-Z Monitoring Groomer is available for special non-intrusive monitoring (high impedance) applications in which E1 (and T1) ports can be connected to monitoring / billing equipment for non-intrusive monitoring of live traffic or signaling, required by billing servers etc.

In the monitoring mode the groomer provides the user a total of 36, E1 Ports. The 32 E1 ports shall connect to the “live traffic” E1 links which are to be monitored, non-intrusively (Hi-Z) in both transmit and receive directions and 4 additional E1 ports shall connect to the monitoring equipment, such as billing servers etc.

The E1 Groomer (E1 Monitoring DACS) is capable of monitoring a -20dBdsx (0.3Volt Pulse) E1 signal through a Hi-Z path, without in any way disturbing the live E1 traffic that is required to be monitored. The E1 connector(s) shall be RJ45 120 Ohms for E1 (and 100 Ohms for T1) and a "Y" cable is provided (included) to connect E1 Groomer equipment to the E1 ports that are required to be monitored.

The equipment offers the user with complete flexibility to choose and select time-slots from each of the 16 E1 links that are being monitored, without limitation or restrictions, through the internal TSI non-blocking switch (data received by the equipment's 32 E1 receivers) and then aggregate the selected time-slots to the 4 output E1 ports that shall connect to the test probes etc.

In the monitoring mode the groomer provides the user a total of 36, T1 ports. 32, T1 ports shall connect to the “live traffic” T1 links which are to be monitored, non-intrusively (Hi-Z) in both transmit and receive directions and 4 additional T1 ports shall connect to the monitoring equipment, such as billing servers etc.

The T1 Groomer (T1 Monitoring DACS) is capable of monitoring a -20dBdsx (0.3Volt Pulse) T1 signal through a Hi-Z path, without in any way disturbing the live T1 traffic that is required to be monitored. The T1 connector(s) shall be RJ45 100 Ohms for T1 (and 120 Ohms for E1) and a "Y" cable is provided (included) to connect T1 Groomer equipment to the T1 ports that are required to be monitored.

E1 - 64 Port Plus - E1 Groomer

The VCL-MegaConnect, 64 Port Plus - E1 Monitoring Groomer is suitable for non-intrusive monitoring of upto 32, "live" E1 traffic links, bidirectionally (i.e. in both transmit and receive directions through its 64 E1 receivers) through a high impedance (Hi-Z) path. Additionally, the equipment also provides 16 output E1 ports that shall connect the aggregated time-slots which have been non-intrusively "monitored" from the 32, "live" E1 traffic links to the user's protocol analysers, test probes, etc. Available with -20dBsx (0.3Volt Pulse) E1 / T1 signal sensitivity. Also available with -30dBsx (0.1 Volt Pulse) and -40dBsx (0.03 Volt Pulse) E1 / T1 signal sensitivity.

The VCL-MegaConnect, 64 Port Plus - E1 Monitoring Groomer, occupies only a 3U high rack-space, and is a compact 19-inch stand-alone unit. The unit is powered by and operates on a dual (1+1 protected) -48V DC power supply. An AC mains option is also available with an external AC-DC converter.

The equipment is provided with BOTH, RS232 Serial Interface for COM Port connection and as well as a TCP/IP LAN Interface (10BaseT) for providing equipment access through Telnet over a LAN/TCI/IP link. The user may select and use either of these ports for executing HyperTerminal text commands for configuration etc. The access for configuration and system management is provided through CLI (Command Line Interface) text commands which may be executed either from a serial (COM) Port of a PC or through the TCP/IP 10/100BaseT LAN Interface.

The VCL-MegaConnect, 64 Port Plus - T1 Monitoring Groomer is suitable for non-intrusive monitoring of upto 32, "live" T1 traffic links, bidirectionally (i.e. in both transmit and receive directions through its 64 T1 receivers) through a high impedance (Hi-Z) path. Additionally, the equipment also provides 16 output T1 ports that shall connect the aggregated time-slots which have been non-intrusively "monitored" from the 32, "live" T1 traffic links to the user's protocol analysers, test probes, etc. Available with -20dBsx (0.3Volt Pulse) E1 / T1 signal sensitivity. Also available with -30dBsx (0.1 Volt Pulse) and -40dBsx (0.03 Volt Pulse) E1 / T1 signal sensitivity.

VCL-64HSL, 64 Port E1, HSL (High Speed Signaling Link) Monitoring equipment is suitable for "non-intrusive" monitoring application and for monitoring of upto 32, "live" HSL E1 (High Speed Signaling Link) traffic links, bi-directionally (i.e. in both transmit and receive directions). The equipment can be used to monitor all types of E1 links (fractional or whole, unframed, framed).

The VCL-64HSL, 64 Port E1, HSL (High Speed Signaling Link) Monitoring Equipment is equipped with 64 E1 receive ports, through which the "tapped / monitored" signal of the 32 "live" HSL E1 links" is input from a high impedance (Hi-Z) point of a DDF / patch-panel. The equipment also provides 64 E1 transmit (output) ports from where the regenerated and reproduced E1 "monitored" link output is obtained by the user to connect to protocol analysers, test probes, billing servers etc. as a normal E1.
