VCL-2156 GPS Clock with 1+1 Redundant NTP Server
1+1 Redundancy with NTP Peering Feature: The VCL-2156 NTP Server supports the NTP Peering feature, allowing two NTP servers to operate in a main and standby configuration. For this setup, connect the GPS antenna to both NTP servers, as shown in the diagram.
NTP Peering: NTP Peering enables two or more NTP servers to exchange time information reliably. Benefits include:
- Redundancy: Ensures continuous time synchronization if one server fails.
- Configuration: Both units must be configured with each other's NTP IP addresses for point-to-point (P2P) communication.
Operational Scenarios:
- Normal redundant configuration
- VCL-2156 #1 device loses its GPS Antenna or communication, then NTP #2 takeovers the NTP traffic
- VCL-2156 #2 device loses its GPS Antenna or communication, NTP #1 takeovers the NTP traffic
This setup enhances reliability and ensures accurate timekeeping for critical applications where zero-failure conditions are required.
